Sampson Gormaneh Zota, RN

Founder & Executive Director

Renova Global Foundation

Renal Healthcare • Healthcare Infrastructure • Health Systems Leadership

As Founder and Executive Director of Renova Global Foundation, Sampson provides strategic leadership and organizational direction in advancing the Foundation’s mission to design, build, and sustain infrastructure-secured healthcare systems in underserved regions.

A Registered Nurse, renal healthcare leader, and healthcare systems advocate with more than 15 years of progressive clinical and operational experience, Sampson has worked across long-term care, rehabilitation, medical-surgical nursing, acute dialysis, chronic dialysis, and healthcare management. His professional journey—from Nursing Assistant to Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), dialysis operations leader, and healthcare executive—has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare delivery across the continuum of care.

Throughout his nursing career in Minnesota, Sampson has cared for patients in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, community healthcare settings, and specialized dialysis programs. As an Acute Dialysis Registered Nurse, he delivered life-sustaining renal replacement therapy to critically ill patients while witnessing firsthand how reliable power, safe water, skilled healthcare professionals, and resilient operational systems are essential to delivering safe, uninterrupted care.

Since July 2023, Sampson has served as Dialysis Manager at Regency Hospital of Minneapolis, where he led the successful development and launch of the hospital’s dialysis program. In this role, he oversees dialysis operations, clinical quality, patient safety, workforce development, regulatory compliance, and operational performance. His leadership reinforced a guiding principle that has shaped Renova’s mission: exceptional healthcare depends not only on outstanding clinicians, but also on the strength of the systems and infrastructure that support patient care.

These experiences inspired Sampson to help establish Renova Global Foundation alongside a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, board members, advisors, and volunteers committed to strengthening healthcare systems in underserved communities. Together, they are advancing a model of healthcare development centered on infrastructure security, operational resilience, workforce development, and long-term sustainability.

Under his leadership, Renova’s flagship initiative seeks to establish Liberia’s first infrastructure-secured national renal and cardiovascular health system through a coordinated network of national referral centers, regional treatment hubs, and community access clinics. The Foundation’s broader vision is to help countries across Africa build resilient healthcare systems capable of delivering safe, equitable, and uninterrupted care—even in the face of infrastructure challenges.

Sampson’s leadership is guided by a simple belief: life-sustaining treatment should never be interrupted because a healthcare system failed. Through collaboration, innovation, and sustainable partnerships, he is committed to helping build healthcare systems that save lives today while strengthening communities for generations to come.
